Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the largest being a $350,000 investment that was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover from one job to the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink too much, and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, especially after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended a local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed many classes during her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
